Museum Programs

Enhance your museum experience by participating in special programs at the Colonial Williamsburg museums. Whether you want to take an in-depth look at a particular artist or introduce your children to the exciting world of art by participating in a hands-on activity, you are sure to find a program you will enjoy. Live performances at the Hennage Auditorium, conversations with a Founding Father, lectures by visiting professors, special tours led by curators - you are certain to enjoy programs at the museums.

Highlights from the Colonial Williamsburg Collection

Daily at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.
An introduction to the decorative arts museum and its offerings. (30 minutes)

Introduction to Folk Art

Daily at 12 noon and 2 p.m.
See examples of Abby Aldrich Rockefeller’s collection and discover how our folk art collection has grown over the years. (30 minutes)

Meet the Curator or Conservator

Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 2:30 p.m.
An opportunity to walk and talk with those who research and care for antiques in the museums. Check the calendar for the exact topic. (30 minutes)

Focus on Furniture

Tuesdays and Thursdays at 2:15 and 3:30 p.m.
Rare baroque, rococco, and neo-classical furniture of the 18th and early 19th centuries is the focus of this specialized tour. (45 minutes)

Ceramics Up-Close

Fridays and Sundays at 2:15 and 3:30 p.m.
Look at ceramics, including interesting stories about the craftsmen, their creations and the functions for which they were used. (45 minutes)

Wee Folk

Wednesdays at 10:30 a.m. through August 20.
Children ages 3-7 and their adult friends explore the galleries through stories and activities. (45 minutes)

Small Wonders

Mondays and Saturdays at 2:15 and 3:30 p.m.
Tour "A Child's Eye View" and marvel over toys including trains, dolls and dollhouses. (45 minutes)
